RED FLAG RULES DO NOT APPLY TO PROVIDERS....According to VGM, the Senate and House have each passed a law that exempts suppliers from having to comply with the FTC "Red Flag Rule" that dealt with Identity Theft Prevention. The new law does not include as a creditor those entities that advance funds on behalf of a person for a service provided by the creditor to that person.
It's about time suppliers catch a break!

Draft Glucose Monitors Local Coverage Determination Withdrawn - The DME MACs released a draft revision of the Glucose Monitors LCD for comment on September 23, 2010. The comment period ended November 8, 2010. Based upon the comments received this proposed revision has been withdrawn.
TIMELY FILING DEADLINE CHANGE...Don't forget that the timely filing requirements have changed. You have one year from the date of service to file a claim for any date of service 1/1/2010 and after. You can still get dates of service from 10/1/2008 through 12/31/2009 submitted, but it must be by 12/31/2010. BE CAREFUL--CEDI WILL BE OBSERVING FRIDAY, 12/31/2010 AS A HOLIDAY. The following info comes straight from their listserv communications:
Due to the change in the timely filing limits for Medicare fee-for-service claims, if you need a claim receipt date prior to January 1, 2011, you must have your claims submitted to Common Electronic Data Interchange (CEDI) no later than 3:00 p.m. eastern time (ET) on Thursday, December 30, 2010.
So, be sure to get your claims in by the 30th if you have timely filing issues!
